Sounds with Emphasis

Quinn may not be able to talk but he understand questions and demand.

He makes this sound, just a typical "ehhhhh" sound, but for the past few months he has been understanding how to make each "ehhhhh" into either a question or an order.

How does he know this so well? Is it instinct to make a higher pitch on the last part of the note when you're asking a question? And is it instinct to use a forceful down deep, from the gut sound on the same note when you're giving an order?

He uses these two sounds perfectly. When he sees something new, I can see the question in his eyes followed by the "question" "ehhhhh". When he is demanding "snacks" or to be picked up I can see the anger, well not anger but the demand in his eyes along with the "demand" "ehhhhhhh"

Is this instinct or has he learned this from us? I know a lot of people will say he learns from us but it's not like Tony and I walk around going "ehhhh?????" to stuffed puppies or "ehhhhh!!!!!!!" when we want food all day. Could he just be picking up the type of pitch we use in different situations? I can see how he would pick up a sound but he knows when and how to apply it.

It's just so interesting to see how a baby learns!
