It took three hours total and he was with the doctor for about 30 minutes. When it was over the doctor said we could go back with him and that he was really upset. As soon as I opened that door I could here him yelling, my heart sank, they assured me that he was not in pain, he just felt "drunk" and didn't know how to handle it. I saw a nurse sitting in a rocking chair trying like hell to calm him down. As I stepped up I heard her say "here comes your momma, You need to be with her that will calm you down, her scent, her feel". I knew that moment that there was no smell or feel in the world that was going to calm him down, not even mom or dad. As I took him he stopped crying for a moment. Then realized there was nothing I could do for him so cried again. Quinn reached for Tony and stopped crying for a moment then realized he could do nothing for him so he cried again. Back and forth he went between the two of us hoping that one of us would make it better. All the nurses and other patients in the recovery room were just waiting for him to calm down. They kept asking me as nicely as possible if he would take a pacifier. Quinn gave up on the pacifier when her finally realized that no matter how hard he sucked, no milk was coming out. Finally the nurses aloud him to have juice earlier then they would normally. That of course calmed him down. I could see the nurses take a deep sigh of relief and get back to there other patients who were also quite relieved. He drank the entire thing and slept for five hours. He woke up about five hours later in his own crib and completely normal and happy. I hope he just thought he had a really bad dream. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
