Lay-Offs
This is the week of a massive lay off at my job. The rumor is about fifty employees. Back in August we had another lay off of a slightly smaller scale but still quite an impact of thirty people... that was a horrific day. We sat and watched folks get pulled into the office only to emerge 15 minutes later to pack their desks and leave... one by one all afternoon. Each time our manager came out of her office we all dreaded which direction she would go.
It's odd because last time it was all the buzz... folks were packing their desks just in case they were called in and the feeling was gloom all week.. this time people seem to be numb to it, no packing... no buzz... they all seem chipper, discussing their holiday weekend.
Every once in a while I here some one ask ... "you think today is the day?"
Well it has to be done by the 3rd which is Wednesday... and my manager seems not to have the look of dread and horror she had last time (that day seemed to have killed her, I can only imagine)... so maybe we're safe for today. But in honestly I wish today was the day... waiting for the axe to fall and not being positive which day it is, is really tough.

I had to go through this at MCP before I finally got the axe.... One by one they all left until there were only a few - then it was me.... Thought I would never recover - and guess what? it's but a distant memory now... Life goes on - just sometimes on a different path than you expected....You have friends and family - you will make it no matter what....
I was so overwhelmed yesterday (wow it was just yesterday!)- that I realize I did not respond to this...
I am lucky to have great friends and family that would never let me fall :)
That's the most important thing.
Still can't believe it myself
