Mr. Conner Lamb
Quinn got to meet his neighbor Conner this week, twice. Conner is about the same age as Quinn. It's very interesting to see the two of them interact. And it's nice to listen to how others raise a baby the same age. You get some good tips from other parents. The first time they met we just put them on the floor and let them go. I was horrified when Quinn proceeded to put his finger in Conner's eye. No harm done BUT note to self, babies can hurt other babies (and cats), they have no TACT! Kara & Greg (Conner's mom & dad) had a few toys that Tony and I hadn't even thought about getting for Quinn yet. Like a pull up and play type station. Quinn has been pulling up in his crib so I suppose I should have known he was ready for such toys. On the second trip to the neighbors we headed to their pool. Tony and I haven't had any real outdoor time with Quinn other then a BBQ. So we were TOTALLY unprepared. We had to borrow a sun hat and SPF lotion. I sat with Quinn by the pools edge and we kicked our feet in the water. Then I hung him suspended over the water and he slapped it with his hands. He also got to swim in Conner's little, baby boat. I think he liked it, despite the chilliness. Conner and Quinn didn't really interact for the second trip, the pool was just to distracting for us both :) but maybe next time. Most of the Kids on our block are older so it's nice to have a neighbor with the same age child. BTW - a diaper can hold A LOT of water!
Sounds with Emphasis
Quinn may not be able to talk but he understand questions and demand. He makes this sound, just a typical "ehhhhh" sound, but for the past few months he has been understanding how to make each "ehhhhh" into either a question or an order. How does he know this so well? Is it instinct to make a higher pitch on the last part of the note when you're asking a question? And is it instinct to use a forceful down deep, from the gut sound on the same note when you're giving an order? He uses these two sounds perfectly. When he sees something new, I can see the question in his eyes followed by the "question" "ehhhhh". When he is demanding "snacks" or to be picked up I can see the anger, well not anger but the demand in his eyes along with the "demand" "ehhhhhhh" Is this instinct or has he learned this from us? I know a lot of people will say he learns from us but it's not like Tony and I walk around going "ehhhh?????" to stuffed puppies or "ehhhhh!!!!!!!" when we want food all day. Could he just be picking up the type of pitch we use in different situations? I can see how he would pick up a sound but he knows when and how to apply it. It's just so interesting to see how a baby learns!
Guitar
For Christmas we gave Quinn a fake little guitar. We figured it would take him through his first few years before he started playing with daddy. Well he can't wait. He loves to hear Tony play guitar, if Tony stops he starts making "continue" sounds. (the same sound he makes to hear Elmo sing OVER and OVER) This week Tony had his guitar in the living room in it's case but open. Quinn crawled right over to it and actually began playing it. I don't mean that he banged on it, I mean he REALLY played it. He understood to take his finger and "ping" the strings. It became his favorite thing to do! Every time we put him down he went right to the Guitar. I can tell Tony is holding his joy in because he thinks Quinn will most likely hate what ever Tony and I like, but...... I don't' know about that we may have another guitar player on our hands. Tony is a VERY talented Guitar player and sometimes I feel he should be famous. But maybe he was meant to pass it on to Quinn... Look at me being a typical mother thinking Quinn is a prodigy already! HA you gotta love it!
So many changes
Baby boy is making so many changes I can't keep up. For a few months the only feet he had mastered was "dadadadadadadada" and sitting up. This week was a great week to take a vacation because I got to see his first shaky attempts at crawling and his pulling up on his legs in a standing position. He's making so many new sounds and it's crazy! He now goes "plsssstttttttt" and clicks his tongue on command, which are the cutest. He seems to be able to repeat now. I click my tongue then he clicks his, I go plsssst then he goes plssssttt and the sweetest thing is the smile he gets on his face after he repeats you. You can see he is proud of him self! Next step WALKING!
wAhOOOOO
I came home today to a crawling baby!!!!!!!!!! Apparently he was playing with the DVD knobs and buttons. He looked over at the dogs and hauled ass to them... Video will be up shortly.

this Virus is a KILLER... I just got a call from the Day Care that Quinn has to go home. He threw up all over himself. He began throwing up Thursday night but over the weekend he was better so I figured it was gone. He gave it to me this weekend, I literally ate ten crackers and ice chips all day yesterday. Poor Quinn, what a horrible virus this is! I haven't felt so sick in a LONG time and to think that he's feeling this way breaks my heart. It's odd though, because I could hardly move this weekend with out running to the bathroom with queasiness. I did nothing but moan and take deep "please don't vomit" breathes... But Quinn he would throw up, smile and continue playing! Even Day Care Donna said besides the throwing up he's playful and cheery. We'll Tony is on his way to get him... but unfortunately Tony is starting to feel a little "funny" If that is the case I will have to come home... there is no way Tony could take care of Quinn in that state.
My First Mothers Day
Been throwing up since midnight! I Want more then life its self to call out tomorrow but I can't because I just took a personal day last Monday and a few Firday's ago for Quinn. AHHHHHHHHHHH I haven't been physically sick since I was ten years old... spagettio's is what I had eaten that day, it took a few years to eat them again. I don't like this feeling. Happy Mothers day :) Well, maybe next year?

Quinn has been making this gasping sound sometimes. It scares the hell out of me! We've been told by the doctor that there is a good chance he will be a very allergic little boy. Because of his allergies to Milk protein, soy, lactose intolerance and his Eczema, they figure there are more allergies to follow, Some kids are just prone and he seems to be. I read that: 1 - Allergies can create Asthma 2 - Extreme use of antibiotics have been linked to Asthma 3 - Asthma can effect babies, but go away later 4 - There are two types Asthma, one is much more severe then the other 5 - One type of Asthma is caused by over exertion and another by allergies. If in fact this gasping sound is the onset of Asthma, I believe he may develop the allergy Asthma, and the less severe one, because he seems to gasp more when he's relaxed then playing and it's not a severe sounding gasp, it's more like a "catch my breath" kinda gasp. It kinda sounds like Darth Vador when he breathes, imagine Darth Vador out of breath, that is the sound. It's short lived and usually only a few breathes. But I can't rule out the fact that he only makes this gasping sound when he's "talking" so maybe it's just a new sound he likes. But AGAIN it scares the hell out of me! I remember asking the doctors if he could be lactose intolerant when he was two weeks old, they told me it's extremely rare and they doubted it. One week later he's being rushed to Chop because he has distention (blockage, no food can go down). After all those horrible test to rule out things like backwards intestines, hirshprongs disease and a few other scary tests and three days of not eating guess what it was! Allergies to MILK and LACTOSE INTOLERANCE!!!! Ladies (and daddy's) TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS!!!!!! I will watch Quinn like a hawk if I think he may develop Asthma because AGAIN they say "it's extremely rare", where have I heard that before!?

It's official... his ear infection is GONE!!! Praise the lord!
Pulling up
He's trying to get out of the crib... he can't pull up to his feet but he pulls up to his knees. Usually it's when Tony or I leave the nursery. I think he's trying to follow us! Sometimes I'll pretend to leave and wait a few moments. When I return I see him actually leaning over the crib trying to figure out how he's going to escape! Soon I'll have to set the mattress down a notch so he doesn't fall out... But for now he's no where near pulling up to a standing position and he's learning... He understands that he can follow, that's another milestone I never thought of. It's cool seeing the world through his eyes!

I've been noticing Quinn using his feet to feel stuff A LOT... When he's in the car seat I put a talking dog, stuffed animal at the bottom of his legs so he can look at something. He turns it on with his toes, I'll glance back (at a stop light of course) and he'll have one set of toes roaming around the floppy ears and a leg wrapped around the dogs back back. I figured he was just bored in the car but lately I've seen him reach for items with his toes rather then his arms. He'll roll a ball around in between his feet or just explore a toy with his toes. And this is while he's in a sitting position, he could easily grab it with his hands. And speaking of toes... He finally made the toe trip to his mouth! I love when you see pics of babies eating their toes but Quinn never did it, his tummy was to big or he just never tried... Today I saw it and it was adorable!
Dancing
Quinn has started dancing, I bought a set of CDs called "silly Songs" Ya know, wheels on the bus, itsy bitsy spider... I started using the CD when we'd eat as background music. To my surprise Quinn automatically started beebopping to it. It's the cutest thing I have EVER seen. He grabs a few stars (cheerio like things for babies) and starts bopping his shoulders up and down then he gives a little head bounce along with it. I suppose I never really knew how much Tony and I have exposed him to music. He gets it, he understands music, That's a milestone I never thought of. Usually we hold him and dance so he may have had his little beebop for a while now and we never really knew.
