a quiet dinner at home

It's Sunday night and we're sitting around the table eating spaghetti. It was a long day so we're not really talking. All you can hear is the occasional slurps that come with eating spaghetti. Quinn who had eaten before us is now playing quietly with his staking cups. After a few more minutes of silence Quinn begins making noises and laughing hysterically... Tony and I look at him trying to figure out what is making him laugh. It seems he has figured out that if you put the cup over your mouth and yell into it, it makes a "conk shell" like sound out of your voice. Over and OVER again he yelled into the cup and laughed hysterically. Then the sound of him laughing into the cup made him laugh even harder. Our Quiet dinner suddenly became loud and fun while Tony took the cup and yelled "Luke I am your father"

When he finally got bored of the sounds he found another game called "hit the dogs in the head with the cups".

I assume family dinner time will never be boring again.

Laugh Changes

Last night I got to hear a new kind of laugh. It was... Lets see how do I explain... "Deliriously uncontrollable". Quinn is a happy kid so laughing comes pretty natural and often but last night I found a game that just tickles him pink! I put him in his walker/Jeep and ran to hide. He'd go to follow me and I'd pop up and yell Boooooo. My GOD I had no idea what kind of effect this simple game would have on him. Every time he found me I'd run to another area of the house and hide. Hiding behind tables, corners, couches... At one point I hid in the kitchen, I could hear his Jeep making it's way around the corner. But the anticipation of knowing I was going to "pop out" at any moment was to much for him to handle and he just bust out laughing before he rounded the corner. When he finally calmed him self he pushed forward into the kitchen and I jumped out and said "boooo". The boy was laughing so hard I thought he couldn't breath. His face was beat red, he was doubled over (as much as a baby can) It was the kinda laugh that hurts your belly. Then he proceeded to chase me around the kitchen table. We had a lot of fun!

Race car Driver?

Quinn Finally figured out how to use his walker. Actually he figured it out weeks ago. Tony got him walking behind his walker, pushing it through the house a while back. At first When we'd put him in it, he was confused. His walker is a Jeep, it has a black rollbar on the back and a yellow rollbar on the front. When he pushes the walker outside he holds the black rollbar when he's inside he holds the yellow rollbar. Sooo he wanted to push the Jeep but could not understand how to do it from inside with out holding the black rollbar, he kept trying to turn around in the walker and grab the black bar. It's like he associated walking with the black rollbar. So I turned him around, backwards inside the Jeep and the light finally went on!

It's amazing how fast he learned. With in a few hours the boy was doing K turns, parallel parking. He had the gangster lean going on. He'd have one hand on the steering wheel and one hand outside the Jeep while backing up. When taking turns to sharply and hitting the back wheels on a corner he instinctivly knows to back the Jeep up and turn wider. How does he know that?

He's all over the place with that thing. And I find it MUCH easier to get things done knowing he's in it. I can be in one room while he's driving in another. The only trouble is that he has figured out how to use it as a weapon. When he wants his bottle and I'm washing it out he just backs up his Jeep and runs into my legs OVER and OVER again. While having a little tantrum. It's actually quite funny if you are wearing shoes.

He also has a fetish for any thing with Wheels. When he sees a toy truck his eyes just light up. He's been "pretending" things were automobiles for a LONG time. Like CD covers, books... He'd just move them back and forth on the floor. Anywho the point is, he makes car sounds... No one has taught him this. He just does it. I find that amazing. How does he know?

Walking

He's soooo close to walking. We have video of him walking on his on behind a big toy walker jeep. He makes this cute sound of concentration when he picks up speed. It kinda sounds like he's blowing zerberts and trying to poop at the same time. He's been practicing with removing his hands from what ever holds him up and standing by himself. I can't believe he's almost there!

Allergies

Little man is so sick. I just have no clue what's wrong anymore. Something is happening beyond colds. He now has an ear infection and a sinus infection. HE just got over a sinus infection three weeks ago. He can hardly breathe, it's a struggle and sounds so wet, He refuses his bottle because he can't breathe through his nose so we have to spoon feed him 75% of his formula with some cereal mixed in for ease. He has diarrhea and on and off fevers. He's been on Antibiotics for four days and there is still no improvement... EAR DROPS DON'T WORK.

I'm trying really hard to only give him Motrin if he REALLY needs it because motrin can hurt the lining of your stomach if given to much. But it seems to be the only thing that takes the pain away. Yesterday he woke himself up from choking on his flemm and scared the shit out of himself and me. Then proceeded to grab his ears and scream in pain for about 20 minutes, that was a motrin moment!

I believe he has some sort of environmental allergies. Either pets or pollen. The doctors don't seem to want to test him. I've been telling them of my suspicions for months now and all I get is... "Usually babies don't get allergies until after their first year of life". The last time they took a medical suspition I brought up to them so casually we ended up in the hospital for three day. And that was an allergy also.

Damn it, I hate this feeling of knowing something and getting no where! He has allergies and it's causing the infections, it's as simple as that. Right?

I don't know, I'm really nervous right now. We have an appointment with an Ear nose and throat Doc on Wednesday (today - ignore date on this post) God I hope we get some answers. I'm sure Quinn does too.
