death by cheese whiz

I've excepted the fact that my high metabolism has hit the road and the days of constant dieting are ahead of me. Every time I get a good groove going something screws it all up... for example did you know tofu is fattening? I started eating tofu cheese steaks from a new place that just opened up around the corner... two weeks later and I gained six pounds! After some research I found out the dirty little secret of tofu fat.

I'm aggravated at the six pounds because it was sneaky! It's not like I got to enjoy lots of cheese cake and pie. It was freaking TOFU!

So I got my groove back finally, This weekend I asked Tony to pick up some kind of healthy snack for the weekend on his way home. He arrives with a Cheddar Cheese block, triscuts, hot peppers, and some sort if dip... then out of the bag comes .... THE CHEESE WHIZ... I love The WHIZ, I respect The WHIZ... this isn't good. Two? Three more pounds?

little man is sick

Quinn's got a case of Croup. He kept us up till 4am on Thursday night. Every time he coughed he winced in pain and cried. I assume croup can be painful to the throat. Friday at the doctors it was confirmed. Like a cold there is nothing we can do but wait it out... He's not sleeping much and naps seem to be out of the question.

Two other things popped up at the doctors office, I spoke to the nurse about his aversion to any cold medicine and how it's not effective if he spits it out or throws it up. She handed me a sample Triaminic cold strip. Just like those breathe strips, it dissolves on your tongue. Quinn was very much in favor of these tasty little treats, but I wonder how they pack all that medicine in those tiny little strips that are the size of my thumb nail?

The other thing that popped up, which is slightly disturbing is that his last ear tube has fallen out. When the doctor was looking for it she noticed that the hole that held the tube has gotten larger rather then smaller. She suggested we go to our specialist as soon as possible but also mentioned that by the time we see him the hole may close on it's own. Still I saw and heard a bit of concern in her voice and that worries me. Doctors try so hard to pad things softly to parents that sometimes you miss the dangers. That happened when Quinn was three weeks old. Quinn had distention in his belly and the doctor very sweetly said that we should take him for abdominal x-rays... she was so soft and kind about it that Tony and I walked out with smiles and no worries. Later that day she called and asked where the x-rays were. We said that we had an appointment the following day. That's when the fear and warning came out of her. She was very upset and told us that we should have told the radiologist that it was an emergency and finally explained the danger he might be in. Because of that day I try to read between the lines with doctors and I'm troubled about his ears now. Tony has a friend who has partial hearing loss because the hole in her ear never closed.

Potter Mania!

I'm reading, "Harry Potter and the deathly hallows" and I'm finding it VERY difficult to avoid being told the ending. In the car I listen to talk radio and I constantly have to turn the channel when they start on the subject. Then I have to avoid reading the Courier-Post forums when ever I see Harry Potter being mentioned. I know two people who sat and read the book in one day just to avoid the ending being spoiled. I just started the book and I only read at lunch and right before bed. So I can't whiz through it like that. I know soon I'm going to hear it, and I'll be pissed!

And no smart ass comments about the ending! The Bear DOES NOT KILL HIM Chrissy! :)

Quantum Physics

Yes this will be a smart post... now if I could have spelled physics that would have helped.

So there is a really smart fellow in our ghost group who told us all about some studies that were being done in the world of Quantum Physics. One of the studies showed that on a microscopic level objects can be moved by just being observed AND that the object also drops in temperature... just from being observed! Ain't that some shit?! Ok maybe this blog isn't that smart.

But that would explain why people get the chills when they feel they are being watched from a spirit... apparently the act of being observed changes the energy around you and maybe in some freaky cases a person can harness that power and move objects. OK OK maybe that's still a bit over the top but the study is amazing and opens up so many possibilities.

Here is the article that he forwarded. It's much better written! the study

bye bye blue

Last night I noticed that the tiny rim of yellow-green around the center of Quinn's Big Blue eyes has expanded to take up most of the blue. Looks like Quinn may have green or hazel eyes soon. I like green eyes but I thought he'd keep those blue eyes like his mama. All though if he keeps that reddish tint to his hair green is a great color to go with it. Tony has been telling me from the beginning that the odds of Quinn keeping blue eyes are slim to none. (yes he's looked into it... wouldn't you? lol) Oh well, either way he's the cutest baby on the earth so no matter. Instead of striking blue eyes he'll have striking green eyes.

PS ... telling a baby to hold still so you can gaze deeply into their eyes kinda makes them pissy. hehe.

Even when he's wrong he's right

Quinn is learning so much... he's taking things in so fast it's scary. He repeats everything. In typical baby fashion he mixes up his words a lot. But even his mix ups make sense. Quinn was watching Sesame street and big bird started counting, Quinn begins to count with him "one, two, three, not two..." Tony and I glance at each other, he's right, four is not two. Two has been Quinn's favorite number so I assume at daycare when he points to the number four and says two, his teachers say "that's not two" things like that crack me up.

Tony and Quinn like to race... Tony will lean forward slightly and say "ready, one two three GO!" Then they will run... Quinn will want to repeat his daddy so the next race he leans forward so far that his head nearly touches the ground and he can see behind him through his legs then he says "reeeady, twooo, DO (go)" Technically "ready to go" is an understandable and correct question. Just like a boy he has to always be right! oh yeah and he's learned to cheat... he starts to count for the race and he'll say "reeeeady one" then smiles and says DO and runs. Isn't that just like a boy too?
